At NPK Coatings, we specialize in smart surface technology coatings for granule fertilizers and seeds.
NPK Matrix is our flagship coating - a plant and mineral based system that improves the performance of fertilizer granules and seeds by adding strength, micronutrients, and ion stabilization in one clean, OMRI - certified layer.
No polymers. No petroleum synthetics. Just a better coating that works with the soil, not against it.
#JoinTheMatrix

Granule coatings today are mostly cosmetic and inert. NPK Matrix turns the coating into a functional system that improves nutrient delivery, granule integrity, and blend performance.
Micronutrient Enrichment
Each coated granule carries a trace dose of potassium and boron, delivered in a water-soluble form that contributes directly to plant nutrition. This makes the coating part of the fertilizer program - not just a shell.
Surface Ion Immobilization
Chloride (from KCl) and phosphate (from MAP/DAP) can spike in the root zone and damage roots. NPK Matrix buffers these ions at the surface, moderating release and reducing localized toxicity. NPK Matrix traps these ions using coordinate bonds and lewis acid/base interactions.
Dust Reintegration
Granule dust is wasted nutrient. NPK Matrix captures and re-bonds loose fines during coating, reducing loss in blending, handling, and field application. These loose fines actually become part of the 3D Matrix and is fully integrated back onto the granule.
Breakage Control
The coating forms a flexible surface layer that reduces fracture and fines generated during transport and mixing. This flexible surface layer is a 3D supramolecular network that bends and shifts with movement that gives it unparalleled breakage performance.
Performance Impact

Production-Scale Results – Intrepid Potash (Moab)
NPK Matrix has been validated at plant scale.
In the fall 2025, Intrepid Potash ran 200 tons of potash coated with NPK Matrix at 125 TPH through a full production re-screener at a 0.91 GPT application rate.
Immediate Plant Observations
• Very little visible dust during screening
• No measurable -20 fines recorded in cam-sizer testing
• Clean, natural granule appearance
• Stable SGN and UI
4-screen average on day of coating
• SGN: 301.3
• UI: 0.43
• Degradation: 13.3
This performance aligns with traditional synthetic coatings — while remaining OMRI-listed and plant/mineral based.
Storage Stability – 4 Month Comparison
Granule strength isn’t proven on coating day.
It’s proven in storage.
NPK Matrix showed the largest improvement in degradation over time.
The granule became more stable during storage.
That is the practical outcome of Dust Reintegration™ — restored surface cohesion and reduced micro-fracturing under moisture cycling.
4 Month Degradation Results
No Coating = .06 change
Mineral Oil = 0.00 change
Leading Synthetic (Arrmazz Dustrol) = -1.3
NPK Matrix = -2.3
Earlier Validation – September Production Runs
During earlier Moab production testing, NPK Matrix reduced measurable -20 dust to 0.1%
Granule appearance remained natural and uniform.
Performance was competitive with synthetic options — without petroleum or polymer films.
Why This Matters
Until now, producers choosing organic-compatible coatings had to sacrifice performance.
NPK Matrix is an OMRI-listed micronutrient coating that delivers:
• Plant-scale dust reduction
• Competitive screening performance
• Measurable storage improvement
• Organic compatibility
This is not a lab demonstration.
It is plant-validated performance at commercial throughput.

Most seed coatings are built for handling, not performance. NPK Matrix changes that by delivering functional benefits that directly improve seedling emergence, root development, and biological compatibility.
Micronutrient Priming
NPK Matrix coats each seed with a low-dose, water-soluble form of boron and potassium, essential for early root growth, cell division, and metabolic stability. These nutrients are absorbed immediately during germination, resulting in faster emergence and stronger starts.
Salt and PH Buffering
The coating helps stabilize the seed microenvironment in saline, compacted, or chemically imbalanced soils. It reduces localized ion toxicity and improves seedling survival under stress.
Biological Compatibility
Unlike synthetic coatings, NPK Matrix is safe for inoculants like rhizobia, mycorrhizae, and PGPRs. It preserves viability during storage and supports colonization at the root-soil interface.
Clean Flow, No Residue
Dries fast. Flows Clean. No stickiness, no clumping, no polymer residue in bins or planters.
Performance Impact
NPK Matrix is the only OMRI listed agricultural coating for granules and seeds that actually feeds the plant after it's done protecting the seed or granule. Certificate available upon request.
